Why Gran Canaria?
The economic and tax system of the Canary Islands is different from the system that applies in the rest of Spain and Europe. The Canarian archipelago forms part of the European Union but as compensation for its remoteness and insularity it has been granted one of the most favourable economic and tax systems in the whole of Europe. This makes these islands extremely attractive from an investment point of view. All the Canary Islands offer a series of incentives which are aimed at attracting foreign investment, this includes an average tax rate on company profits of up to 6%.
Gran Canaria is the largest of the Canary Islands and as with all the archipelago enjoys a spring climate all year round with average annual temperatures along the coast that do not go much below 18 degrees or much higher than 25 degrees centigrade. Indeed, Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, has one of the best climates in the world.
Gran Canaria however, is different from its neighbouring islands in its unusual relief. The shape of the island has given rise to a great variety of microclimates within Gran Canaria itself and while the climate is generally dry and sunny all year round in the coastal regions, especially in the south, as you move up to the higher altitudes of the island the influence of the sea is less and the clouds are retained by the mountains making the area a lot wetter. This produces massive variations in temperature in various areas of the island. You have the temperate zones of the coastal regions or valleys and subtropical forests to the highest zones where the temperature has been known to fall to 0 ºC.
Gran Canaria also offers a large amount of tourist attractions, as well as an unbeatable support system for business investment that makes this beautiful island an ideal destination for holiday makers and for property investment.
